Posa exists because I couldn’t find a cleanser I’d trust on my skin during sensitive moments — after travel, during a flare, when my skin felt reactive. Every ‘gentle’ cleanser was either gentle and ineffective, or effective and stripping. Cleansing usually means choosing between the two. The compromise isn’t necessary. Posa is built around two molecularly distinct, well-researched compounds — both with substantial bodies of evidence behind them, both engineered to act within the brief window of cleanser contact.

2% Colloidal Oats — a source of avenanthramides and β-D-glucans. Avenanthramides are polyphenolic alkaloids found nowhere else in the botanical world — extensively studied within the dermatology literature, including research on their interaction with NF-κB biology and cytokine signaling (Sur et al., Arch Dermatol Res, 2008). Their antioxidant activity has been measured in several in-vitro radical scavenging assays. The accompanying 1,3-1,4-β-D-glucans have been researched in connection with the appearance of comfortable, hydrated-looking skin (Reynertson et al., J Drugs Dermatol, 2015). The FDA has long recognized colloidal oatmeal as a Category I skin protectant — a regulatory designation few botanical ingredients have achieved.

Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids — an amino acid-derived cleansing system. Cleanses through gentle protein-surface association rather than the lipid-stripping action of conventional sulfate surfactants. Widely used in formulations designed for sensitive-feeling skin. Paired here with cocamidopropyl betaine, an amphoteric co-surfactant.

Argan Oil and Lecithin — the emollient phase. Argania spinosa kernel oil is dispersed through the cleanser with lecithin so that the wash leaves behind conditioning rather than removing it. Argan oil is oxidation-prone, which is why tocopherol and disodium EDTA are in the formula: they are there to protect the oil, not to make a claim.

Hydrolyzed Silk — a low-molecular-weight conditioning protein. Added at cool-down to preserve its integrity, contributing to the soft, non-squeaky after-feel.

Avenanthramides have been researched in connection with the appearance of comfortable, calm-looking skin. β-glucans are studied for their role in healthy-looking barrier. The amino acid surfactant cleanses without the lipid-stripping action of conventional sulfates. Cushion, not squeak.
